What We Offer

Rooms, apartments, food, boats and the practical help that makes a long stay in a small village straightforward.

Wide braided river running through a bare mountain valley

Hotel Rooms and Suites

Two eight-room hotels, one in a restored mill and one in a former ferryman's inn, both directly on the bend. Rooms range from compact doubles to family suites with a separate children's room, all with river views, heavy linen, blackout shutters, deep baths or walk-in showers and reliable heating. Rates include breakfast on the terrace, use of the boats and swimming access. Reception is staffed from seven in the morning until ten at night, and a member of staff sleeps on site, so arriving late or needing something after hours is never a problem.

Self-Contained Apartments

Fourteen apartments across three buildings, from studios to three-bedroom flats with a terrace over the water. All include a full kitchen, dining space, washing machine, fast wi-fi, a desk and a private outdoor area. Linen and towels are changed weekly on short stays and more often by arrangement; cleaning can be added at any frequency. Parking, bicycle storage and a shared boathouse come with every apartment, and pets are accepted in six of them with bedding and bowls supplied on arrival.

Food, Baskets and Private Dining

Beyond breakfast, we deliver stocked-fridge orders before arrival, weekly vegetable boxes from a farm in the next village, and bread each morning to any door that asks. Two evenings a week a cook prepares dinner in the mill dining room for anyone who books a place, and private dinners can be arranged in an apartment or on a terrace for up to twelve people. Wine comes from three growers within the valley, and tastings with the growers themselves are organised through the summer.

Boats, Bikes and River Days

Canoes, a rowing boat, paddleboards, fishing tackle and a dozen bicycles are available to guests at no charge, with helmets, buoyancy aids and route cards provided. We run a shuttle so that guests can paddle downstream and be collected, arrange fishing permits and guides, and organise guided walks up the valley sides for the view back down onto the bends. In late summer the swimming pool below the mill is at its warmest, and we set out chairs, towels and a cool box on the shingle beach each morning.

Long Stays and Remote Work

Stays of a month or more include a reduced rate, a proper desk with an adjustable chair and monitor on request, printing at the office, weekly cleaning and laundry, a grocery delivery on a fixed day and help with local registration or appointments. Two apartments are set aside specifically for this, positioned in the quietest building with the strongest connection. We can also arrange a room for occasional meetings, childcare, language lessons and a doctor who speaks English, all of which long-stay guests ask for eventually.

Small Weddings and Family Gatherings

Either hotel can be taken in its entirety for a family celebration, a wedding of up to fifty guests or a small workshop, with the terrace, garden, dining room and bank included. We coordinate catering, furniture, flowers, music within the agreed hours, transport from the station and accommodation for anyone the building cannot hold in the apartments nearby. A single coordinator handles the whole event from first enquiry to the final departure, and we run a realistic wet-weather plan because the valley catches its share of rain.
